The past and present of Mexico City’s culture and traditions are alive in its markets. Innumerous displays of brassbound beliefs and practices of folk culture can be seen in almost every stall and corner of our fascinating mercados.

In this experience you will walk three of the most representative markets of the city.

You will learn about the pre-Hispanic origins of the Mexican markets, discover the diversity of endemic products, local flowers, seasonal fruits and vegetables, exotic animals, indigenous gastronomy, spirit-cleansing herbs, magic and sorcery, love potions, wealth-endowing candles, and also admire one-of-a-kind expressions of popular religiosity that is part of the everyday life of their vendors and clients.
